Longevity Nutrition: How To Live Longer, Feel Better And Look Younger

Longevity Nutrition is an easy way to live longer, feel better and look younger. It’s time to start living life on purpose!

In this article you’ll discover some of the secrets behind longevity nutrition. Learn how improving your diet can help you become the healthiest version of you!

Longevity nutrition is an approach that focuses on eating for optimal health and well being. It emphasises whole foods, nutrient dense foods, and natural remedies.

Here are some great ways you can start incorporating into your life today!

AVOID PROCESSED FOODS

If you eat processed foods, you will not only be consuming more calories than necessary, but you will also be ingesting unhealthy chemicals and preservatives. These substances can cause inflammation throughout your body.

Inflammation can lead to weight gain, fatigue, and numerous diseases including cancers and heart disease. Fighting inflammation is one of the big pieces of the longevity puzzle.

EAT MORE VEG

Eating more vegetables is one of the easiest ways to improve your health. They contain fibre, vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and phytonutrients. These nutrients support healthy digestion, boost energy levels, reduce inflammation, and protect against cancer.

I recommend adding them to the 3 S’s - soups, stews and smoothies as easy ways to boost your intake.

DRINK MORE WATER

Drinking water helps keep your body hydrated and flush out toxins. It also supports proper digestion and helps maintain normal blood pressure.

One way I help my clients to increase their water intake is to start the day with a couple of glasses. Start small, with just a couple of sips and build up over a few weeks.

TAKE A MULTIVITAMIN & MINERAL DAILY

Taking a multivitamin every day can help prevent deficiencies of vitamins and minerals. It can also reduce the risk of certain diseases, such as cancer and heart disease.

Three main things to check when taking a supplement:

  • Am I taking any medication that clashes with supplements? You’ll need to check with your doctor.

  • What specific supplements do I need or not need? For example women with heavy periods and people who exercise excessively may need extra iron from a supplement; people over the age of 50 often need a vitamin B12 supplement, as it becomes harder for them to digest.

  • The quality of the product. Many products out there aren’t great quality. A poor quality product isn’t going to be absorbed well by your body, so it’s worth taking some time to do your research or if you haven’t got much time, book a free 20 minute online chat with me to point you in the right direction

INTERMITTENT FASTING

An increasingly popular way to improve healthy lifespan (or healthspan) as it’s sometimes called. There are lots of different ways to incorporate intermittent fasting into your life. Check out this blog for more information 5 Great Reasons Why Intermittent Fasting Should Be Your New Health Habit

SUPPLEMENT WITH OMEGA 3s

A diet rich in omega-3 fatty acids has been shown to improve cardiovascular function, lower blood pressure, and decrease inflammation. These nutrients are found in fish oil supplements and vegan alternatives.

They are especially important if you are eating processed foods daily. You need a balance between omega 3s and omega 6 in your body. Processed foods contain high levels of omega 6, this is why they cause inflammation that leads to most of the major diseases we face today.

AND MY TOP TIP IS:

Don’t try and do everything at once.

  • Pick one aspect that you’d like to change most and get started.

  • Make yourself a plan and get some accountability.

  • Take it one small step at a time. You’ll reach your goals without being overwhelmed, which often leads to giving up.

Have you tried new healthy habits and given up quickly? It’s probably because you tried to do too much too quickly. I know going slow isn’t as exciting and doesn’t appeal to our brains, but IT WORKS. Study after study proves it.
